It was cold when the sky was growing dark with the setting of the sun, its fading light dyeing the clouds gathered above deep colours of red and orange. Starlings danced and flocked in the skies, creating clouds of patterns with their shrieking songs. And somewhere in the distance, a fox screamed. Tangled up in a mess of long grass, nettles and frayed rope, a small brown calf with a soot-covered back lay on the ground; exhausted and weak and without hope. His chest heaved with each haggard breath after trying so long to free himself from the tangled mess he had wound up in. He had tried calling out to his mother but had given up hours ago when he received no answer. His throat ached and his voice was gone. Now, the brown calf just remained there on the ground, waiting for whatever fate had decided for him. Would the pack of monsters with clever eyes and sharp teeth find him, or would it be those massive lumbering creatures with massive claws that would devour him? The

Dako and Leron weren't sure what to do following the old saber's death so they remained there, sitting beside the body and watching the last slither of light from the setting sun fade into the horizon. Some moments had passed since the saber had breathed his last yet Dako and Leron weren't in a rush to move on so quickly. Death, no matter if it was anyone's first experience or their hundredth, always left an empty and hollow feeling. Even though Dako and Leron didn't know who the saber was and had only just met him that evening, they still mourned for him. They didn't know if he had anyone that could mourn for him, if they even knew he had come here that is. So they both stayed quiet, watching the light fade and the clouds darken with the onset of night.
